About Core Scientific, Inc.
Core Scientific, Inc. provides infrastructure for high-density colocation services and digital asset mining in the United States. It operates through three segments: Colocation, Digital Asset Self-Mining, and Digital Asset Hosted Mining.
The AI data-center infrastructure industry
AI data-center infrastructure firms provide the buildings, power and hosting that AI compute actually runs in — leasing high-density capacity, and often power and cooling, to hyperscalers and AI companies. Several began as crypto-mining operators and pivoted to AI and high-performance-computing hosting. The business turns on access to cheap power, land and capital, and on signing long-term contracts with creditworthy tenants; it is capital-hungry and sensitive to financing costs and to how durable AI demand proves to be. Core Scientific, a former large-scale bitcoin miner, is converting its power and data-center footprint toward AI and HPC hosting under long-term customer contracts.
